Battery Glow Plug related problems?
My 2008 1.9 159 has the "Glow plug, not available" message coming up. I have checked all of the glow plugs, and they all register a resistance of 0.8 ohms, which I believe is correct. The car starts on frosty mornings without too much fuss. The glow plug light come on then goes off after a few seconds. The not available warning comes on for around 10 seconds after the car has started then disappears. Occasionally I don't get the warning, and very occasionally I may get some other warning, but just for a second or so. A friend with a Passat, had similar warnings, and it turned out that his battery, which was old, did not give quite enough charge. Once replaced the warning messages disappeared. Is this possibly the same issue with my 159. I don't want to pay for a battery just to find it made no difference. Anybody had any experience of this.
