Warning light - cam chain issue

Hi all

First post on here so be gentle with me

I picked up a lovely black Brera 3.2 SV JTS V6 Q4 on Monday after a couple of weeks wait as the engine warning light was on. Now we initially thought it was the battery having gone flat in the dealership but after being charged up and the light reset, it came back on before i picked up the car. The fault codes were read and indicated the crank angle sensors - so the garage had the sensors replaced and the light reset again.

35 miles later and today the light popped back on!! I called and arranged for the diagnostics guy to have a look and read the codes. Took the car up and i felt it stutter briefly on the drive but put it down to me not being used to driving the car. They read the codes and it showed not one but two camshaft sensor fault codes on bank 1 (so i assume this will be both inlet and exhaust cams). The garage are talking about ordering and fitting two new sensors but this didnt seem likely to me and so i did a search.... and feel that the fault is more likely down to the timing chain to bank 1??

Does this sound more likely? Car is a 57 plate with 36,700 miles on it. Serviced at 18,600, 31,800 and just when i ordered the car at 36,740.

Car is under warranty from the independent dealer (not an Alfa specialist) so they'll be putting it right. I'd rather point them in the right sort of direction by suggesting the fault may be the chain rather than two sensors getting fitted and not helping - meaning more garage time!!!

Nice car! Does sound like the chain. Service has been done at Alfa intervals and not the higher ones they suggest on here. Good job you got it under warranty!
