159 Tailgate and first 1000 miles

Just given the deposit on a 159 1.9 JTDM Lusso Sportwagon, pick it up on Friday if all goes well. This will be my first Alfa I can't resist the design, I just hope it behaves. Given we also have a Rover Mini I am used to dealing with the odd unexpected mechanical / electrical features.

Sales experience has been OK so far, at a soon to be ex franchise in the North West ( apparently they can still do service and warranty). Only strange experience was the fact they couldn't open the tailgate, I hope this is not a design feature that will come back to haunt me. Anybody else had boot trouble ?

Beyond what it will say in the handbook, any suggestions on how to treat it during the first 1000 Miles ? I am supprised it doesn't have an oil change after 1000 miles is this recommended ?

Re: 159 Tailgate and first 1000 miles

Well I have done the first 800 miles and it is going like a dream( if that isn't tempting fate). It pulls away from the lights like a storm and handles like it is on rails.

The only odd thing is the load area lights, I think they have an irony chip installed. They appear to follow some random on off pattern and no matter how we fiddle with the various combinations of doors open and which switch was used to open the tailgate we can't work out how to get the load area lights on when we want them. ANy body else experienced this ?
