Help Spider Alarm Issues

My 2007 Spider has got Gremlins within the alarm. It sets with the fob, all clicks and bleeps ok, then after a couple of minutes, the alarm is triggered. It can be turned off with the fob and reset with again all the correct number of beeps and interior door flashes but it still goes off again.
If I lock the car with the key, the alarm appears to be activated but does not sound off.
It may be a coincidence but around the same time, I have a dash warning of a rear number plate light failure... however, all bulbs are working.

I have tried setting the alarm by deactivating the interior sensor in the roof light panel but this makes no difference. I have obviously checked that all doors, windows and the roof are closed.

I don't want to go to Alfa who will probably try to mug me off with a 500 bill for a new alarm sensor...

Any ideas

Try slamming the boot shut and then set the alarm, see if that cures it.
Though you'd have probably got the 'trunk open' (even when the boot's closed) warning on the dash if this was the culprit.
That's the only problem I've had with my alarm.
