Replacement for 159 lesson 1.9jtdm
I know this has been covered before, and I have read the threads, but thought I'd reserect it now as I'm in 2 minds as to what to do.
Had my 1.9jtdm for almost 2 years, had some huge issues with it and it has cost me a fortune to maintain, I still check the oil daily and have to top up a litre every 200-300 miles.
Although there is nothing specifically wrong with the car (currently) it has just turned into an oil burner...
Our dog has recently had puppies, one of which we are keeping, so in 2 months time we will be travelling 120 miles each way every weekend with 2 adults, 2 mid teens girls and 2 dogs to a caravan in Anglesey. The 159 is simply too small :-(
We also have a landrover which we could use each weekend but it uses twice as much fuel as the Alfa so I'd rather not.
The question as always is what should I replace the Alfa with? I like Audi a4's or jag x type estates, I could live with a BMW 3 series estate (but would rather not) and I quite like merc c class estates.
I should have bought a station wagon instead of a saloon, then I wouldn't have to ask this question in the first place, but having been hit very hard in the wallet by my current 159 I could never buy another so alfas are out of the question.
(I like the skoda Octavia vrs estate but there are too many taxis round here that have them so would never life it down)
Any other suggestions?
(I might just keep the Alfa and use the Landy at weekends, that would make financial sence even with the increased fuel costs, but I would quite like a newer car as well......)
