Clutch - Bearing at same time
Hi, total dunce when it comes to mechanical stuff so please excuse any ignorance in this post.
The clutch is slipping on our 159 1.9JTDM (106K miles!) and so will need replacing soon. Will ring round Alfa specialists in Yorkshire for some quotes today (have had a search on the forum so got an idea of what to expect).
My question is whether we should have the bearing changed at the same time - as per advice found on another gearbox thread from Ned:
"We recommend stripping the box and changing the bearing whenever we do a clutch change as it is easy with the box out, £30 for a bearing and a couple of hours labour
Our car has been making a sort of whirring noise for about a year now. Happens in and out of gear and sort of sounds like a highish pitched metallicy vibration. WAD in Wolverhampton couldn't find anything wrong with the car and hence recommended no action. It has got no worse and the car has done about 15K in that time.
So - should I be asking about bearings at the same time as the clutch?
Cheers for any advice
