Brera 3.2 Q4

Help Brera key semi-functional

Hi all
I know this problem has probably been dealt with many times on the forum, but couldn't find anything after an hour of searching.
I got my 3.2 Brera earlier this year with 2 keys. The one is use works fine but looks a bit tired.
Tried the spare (which looks much newer) but found it worked except for tailgate opening function.
Tried again now, couple of months later and now it only works the ignition - not remote door locks or tailgate.
The manual suggest replacing battery, which I did, but result is the same.
Anyone know how to remedy this without replacing the key?
Thanks, guys.
Great New Year to all.
