It is people like Kevin Slegg who annoys as he appears in everythreads and grabs on to any slight criticism and comments eg. "Well, so much for 'quality' improvements". Seemingly they ignore the fact that anyone who actually owns one appears to be loving the car and wouldn't change it.
God knows what sort of idealistic world they live in where new cars are always faultless and every one ticks every box for all purposes.
Alan, as you've mentioned me I think I'll reply:
Firstly, I've owned 2 Alfa's V6's from new (which I admit isn't that many) and I bought these despite the advise I was given by various people who assurred me that they would fall to pieces.
Secondly, this is a Forum and therefore people are entitled to put their own views across - and it is likely that different people will have different views.
Thirdly, I was unaware that there were some threads that were supposed to be 'offlimits' to people; or that only those 'in agreement' with a certain view were only allowed to post.
Forthly, I bought my Alfa's because there were certain characteristics that I liked about the car; these included its heritage, its handling, its performance, its engine, its characer etc, and with the 159 I can't help wondering that the aspects I liked so much have been somewhat diluted - we obviously have different prefernces as I go for revvy V6's - whilst you obviously don't. However, I'm entitled to bemoan the passing of certain chracteristics as you're entitled to applaud the 'new' direction.
Fifthly, one of the reasons that has been propounded for the charcter being diluted is that Alfa are aiming to improve quality. Personally I do not think they can be said to achieve that if they are producing cars that appear to suffer from numerous electrical faults, paintwork problems and/or some strange wind-noise problem with the mirrors. Personally, I think Alfa should be given a b*llocking if they aren't hitting the targets they said they would. You, on the otherhand are entitled to think that this is acceptable.
I'm therefore sorry to disappoint you Alan, but I'm going to carry on posting my views - one of which is that I think you should stop being so conceited - no doubt you'll have a different opinion?
PS _ Oh - I'm actually quite pleased some people are enjoying the 159 by the way.
