Was also considering a G.
My dad's just got one though and so I've been able to have a very good look at it.
To me it just doesn't seem to have that Alfa 'specialness' that my previous Alfas have had in spades...
There's not much else on my shortlist though so perhaps I'm just a fussy git
I'll perhaps wait until I've done some serious miles before posting a fuller review, but first impressions are reasonably good.
The engine (1750TBi) is excellent, and the DNA switch actually does make a difference. I love the way it looks and the interior certainly has more flair than the vast majority of offerings on the market.
It's true, it does seem a bit flimsier with the fit and finish inside, but as we know, the 159/Brera were built pretty solidly!
It isn't as special at the Brera, but I looked long and hard over the competition (usual A/S3, Focus ST, Astra, Megane, 1 Series etc) and wasn't thrilled by any of them.
Whittled it down to the Focis ST and the GQV and although the ST is objectively a very good car, it's still a Focus, and a bit 'boy-racer' for me.
For me, the Brera seats were the most comfortable I've sat in. The G seats aren't quite as comfortable from a driving position sense, and they are prone to creaks (easily fixed). Lateral support doesn't seem that great, but haven't had a chance to really test them out yet!
