i've been trying to get hold of the guy for over a month now. Hes not returning my calls / emails so I am assuming this means the project is dead.

As I have said a few times, this project was reliant on someone I knew doing it and he has been difficult to work with on this so I am struggling to manage it.

It may yet come to fruition as he has a habit of disappearing for 6 months and then turning up with a solution.

Who knows.

I'll let you all know something when I now something.

Shame, but appreciate the time and effort you've put in here.

Has anyone looked into water transfer printing for the key end?
I was thinking clean/ strip off all the chrome and then get something like this done...
Water Transfer Printing | Wicked Coatings Is The UK Specialist

The film is applied then it gets a lacquer finish, might be an idea. I think i'll contact them for advice/quote and see what they say.
Just wondered if anyone else had explored this avenue.

And anyone tried to just paint that part? Sure it wont get the chrome look but im thinking of painting it in silver or other color because mine looks terrible as it is.

Whats the better solution to strip all the "chrome" of the key? Thanks

Brera cast zinc alloy key heads

Hi sorry to crash your thread.
I was recently given a brera key buy a friend which was broken where the release button was. That area was missing and the complete head had most of the electroplating missing, it also had some internal damage where the roll pin was removed.
I managed to rebuild the broken / missing part complete with hole for button and slight doming for button to fit in.
I then moulded and cast the item in a white metal high strength zinc alloy, the result was good, unfortunately the area which I rebuild failed during the moulding process and collapsed inwards slightly
I have attached photos of the castings straight from the mould.

I now trying to obtain a similar key head for copying.
If anyone can help please contact me, I am based in the uk.

I am personally no longer involved in this project as my supplier backed out in the end. The one test key that I have been using has not faired well either. The white metal / zinc plate process may be strong but it has suffered exactly the same fate as the plastic one in terms of the plating wearing off where the ring constantly rubs.
