No warranties cover pre existing faults otherwise none of us would ever have garage costs over and above cost of the cheapest warranty needed for the particular fault, so just keep it quiet, take out a warranty, leave it for a while and then make a claim, saying that the fault has only just appeared! Honest.
However, if it was diagnosed by the last garage that MOT'd/serviced the car, then the warranty company might check these records so don't bother if it showed up as a fault on the last service or MOT.
Which company is best to use I'm still trying to find out. Have only seen AA recommended, but like I say, I have no idea which is best.
