I think the problem at the moment is that most of the V6 S cars are being stockpiled by Veloces and they are ramping the prices up considerably to way above the prices what you can find the standard v6 for. But the S is much more desirable.
So one option is to get a normal car, buy the wheels (about £1250) and get it lowered (Eibach springs will do the trick about £400 fitted). It won't be a real S, but you'll be 95% there (and probably have a sky view) for less money.
I found it easy to justify the extra for the S (the standard 2.2 though) even after I spent loads on my 2.4 making it S like. I wanted to move to petrol from my diesel Brera and was prepared to pay a bit more to save me having to do the work again!
