Brera 3.2 V6 Timing Chain (Wear/Stretch)
I'm becoming more and more convinced I have a worn timing chain (and/or worn tensioners or guide). The main symptoms that I have, as posted in other threads (reduced low end torque, clattering idle, occasional misfire or backfire, low compression from a compression test) are consistent with that diagnosis. I know it seems unlikely with the Brera 3.2 V6 having a chunky duplex chain but I have heard about others having this problem on pre-2008 models (Alfa improved the chain as part of the facelift), and there are other posters on here.
I'm not getting a timing/phase error code, but maybe the timing hasn't gotten to that point yet.
What do you think? Shouldn't I expect to see fouled spark plugs or something else more tangible if the timing chain is worn? Is there a straightforward test for the timing chain?
Thanks in advance.
