147 GTA

Warning Looking at swapping the 147gta for a 2.4 159 !!

Yes, I need to be sensible seing as I'm settling down. The 2.4 159 ti seems like the best car for the money that id hope to get for my GTA.

So anything to look out for when buying a 2.4 159? Any common faults? I'd be after either a black or red 159 estate, ideally in ti spec or poss lusso but I'd want the ti alloys. Id be looking to remap it and remove dpf thing. What are the engines like with high miles etc?

Budget it around 7k I guess.

I've been looking at 2.4 sw's for a few weeks, there are plenty of 2006/07 Lusso's for around 7K, but I've not seen 2.4 TI sportwagons for that price and Qtronics seem to be up for more. If you get a Lusso and want the TI wheels, don't forget the price of a set of tyres is much larger than we pay for our 17/18" tyres, you could easily add on another 1200 for the wheels and tyres.

2.4 159 ti

First thing to check is steering: while the car is in situ, turn from full lock to full lock, if there is any creaking/noises, it'll need some work done there, possibly to steering rack

Usual checks for smoke etc if it has high miles, also check what it's like on a cold start, chances are it'll be a bit spluttery, but to be honest, it's a common fault.

If you are looking to buy one at that price, you'll be looking at about 400 - 700 for the dpf removal and remap (this will also include an EGR delete)

Mine is just about to hit 100k and everything is going fine, a few niggles but none I can't sort myself, have to clean inlet manifold.

Make sure the water pump and belt (the name is eluding me) have been changed at approx 70k (?)

There are more, but it is too early in the morning for me to think of them!
