CV joint problem - 159 2.4ti

Hi All,
Here is an unusual one for you all... at least I hope it is... I am inviting comments and feedback on what to expect here.
Have leased a lovely red 2.4ti sportwagon for 2+ years. Got the car with 8k km on the clock; has now covered 37k, so pretty low miles, well taken care of and only Alfa dealer serviced. Never a problem, except the usual, eats tires and front brakes, poor gas mileage but oh - what a lovely car to drive...
A few days ago I noticed a slight shudder when accelerating out of bends or turning into a right hand turn. Wanted to get it looked at asap but a before I got to the garage a few days later at a speed of 40+ miles outside of town all of a sudden the whole chassis starts shaking violently, the steering wheel vibrates very badly...
I am limping the 159 to work, call out the AA.
The rubber bellows had come loose around the front right CV joint. The front right steering joint was running completely dry, trying to lock up the wheel - yikes. I am 3 months out of warranty.
This should simply not happen, should it? What can I expect from this???
Thanks for any comments...

It would be nice to think that your dealer will support you for an out of warranty claim. But.......

You might need to haggle a bit for warranty but you do have a full dealer service history so that goes in your favour.

When was it last serviced and did they notice anything at the time??

Hope you get some help in your favour but I would not hold my breath.

But a CV boot can fail at any time something could have come up from the road and cut the boot, I've even know the retaining clip to cut through the boot on full lock.

In short I don't think you will get any re cause from the dealer. After you experienced the judder did you have a look to see if you could find anything as it would have thrown CV grease everywhere, if not good job it was not loose wheel bolts.

The "Alfatune" full works
60mm Core Full size RS500 FMIC
AEM W/M Injection
Koni struts / Novitec springs
Grooved & Dimpled discs and pads
19" Prodrive wheels, Michelin Pilot Super Sport
Halo's HID's & LED's
Hub dyno'd at well over 500lbft at the wheels ! and that's limited.
Thats over 750 Nm for you figure fiddlers
