Opt for a MY08 build. A 2.2jts will give you a good compromise of a nice engine, enough poke for what is a sports tourer rather than an out and out sports car and reasonable fuel economy. I have driven diesel powered cars for the last 22 years. A Brera is no place for a diesel engine however well it performs. Try to make sure the car has a good Alfa Romeo service history. Frequent oil and filter changes are essential with the 2.2 JTS engine.
I dont know Goastydog, never met him, but I would reckon, if a black Brera would do it for you and if his car is as good as it lists, it presents a real bargain.
Someone said to me, "so whats so special about an Alfa Romeo then?" I told him, "If you have to ask, you wont understand".
Driving Brera S 2.2, wife drives 939 Spider 2.2 and there is a 1972 Spider 2000 S2 in the garage for fun days.
