Now, as explained on screen in multiecuscan, you do need to carry out a PROXI ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE
to resync the units on the car otherwise the change you made won't take effect. This is the bottom option on the ADJUSTMENTS
Make sure your laptop battery isn't on its last legs as this can take up to 5 mins to complete.
Now, nothing is ever straightforward with these cars, is it
The procedure above, oddly enough, disables the dusk sensor for the auto headlights but the rain sensor for the wipers still works. Which was a mite deflating
So, now you need to either:
a) Disconnect the electrics from the mirror. Disadvantage of doing this is that you lose the auto dipping/tint function on the rear view mirror as well. Or,
2) Disconnect the rain sensor plug. This is not a job for the faint of heart as you need to take the mirror off the windscreen by pushing it down toward the dashboard. It takes some force and goes with quite a clunk. Be damned careful and remember it's glass!
The plug you need to undo is the 3 wire connector into the unit attached to the windscreen.
Then slide the mirror up to reattach it to the glass, fit the plastic cover above the mirror and you're done
No warning messages, no auto wipers, no frustrating journeys in the wet
or far better:
iii) In all honesty I would not recommend people try to take the rear view mirror off as in 2) above. If you do it wrong you can smash the windscreen.A far simpler solution, now I have had time to tap out the wiring, is to disconnect one wire from the multiplug.
You can either cut the bottom right wire, the green/yellow matching up to pin 3 as shown below, or using a tiny screwdriver remove the metal part from the plastic plug hanging from the roof.
If you do decide to cut the wire, leave enough spare on each end so you can still reconnect it at a later date if you so desire.
In any case, make sure you properly insulate any cut ends or loose connectors with tape.
