Brera 2.4 jtdm 200,misfire?
I am currently very frustrated,I have a brera 2.4 jtdm which recently started running slightly uneven at tickover, and has since I've owned it for the last 14 months seemed to surge on acceleration at around 2000 revs.
I took it upon myself to remove and clean the throttle body, this made no difference so I removed the egr valve separated it from the solenoid and cleaned it with carb cleaner then refitted it this also made no difference! After asking around I was told to remove the map sensor and give that a clean which I did but on replacing it it started the same as it did before then went into a horrible misfire! It sounded terrible! So I replaced the map sensor with a genuine bosch replacement this also made no difference!
The fuel filter was due for changing anyway so I replaced it again with a genuine alfa part and filled it with injector cleaner fired her up but it still was the same, now people are telling me injector problem so with engine running I removed the electric connection to each injector in turn,on removing no1 this made no difference to the tone of the engine 2,3,4 and 5 all did make a dramatic difference,so I'm thinking no1 injector but to make sure swapped no1 injector for no2,then removed no1 injector electrical connection,no difference!so not injector!Im now stumped!
This car is the best looking thing on the road, but I'm now beginning to regret moving from audi to alfa, any suggestions will be great fully accepted (only 52k on the clock by the way).please restore my faith in this engine that I was told was bullet proof by a few people before I bought it!also dash is showing have engine checked!
