The timing chain issue is a real pain. Mine was changed at an authorised dealer a year before I bought mine at great cost (around a grand, I think). The original garage has long ceased trading or I might have been able to go back to them.
I think an uprated timing chain should have been used in the replacement but my local Alfa garage reckons it probably wasn't. They have told me that if all the other parts were changed as they should have been then the overall cost should be a lot lower than a full replacement this time but we'll see.
This is on a car that has 6 yearly stamps in the book with bills to back them up so it can't be blamed on missing oil changes, etc, so watch out when buying...
Great car though. I've owned the Diesel in the past and while that was certainly very powerful after a remap I prefer the 2.2 now. Despite what people say about the 3.2 they cost a lot more to tax and I wouldn't be getting anything like the quoted mpg from it. More like 15 or 16mpg and that is way too much for me over a year.
