I want a 159 2.4JTD but where should i buy?

Pardon the buildup but it's worth it!

I had (up until the birth of my baby daughter 21 months ago) a gleaming 156 2.0 TS for 3 years that had been my best ever car. i very very reluctantly sold it - the pram wouldnt even fit in the boot. I exchanged it for a Peugeot 607 2.2 HDi SE. Before you start, we needed the boot space, and boy did it have that. However, i think the suspension was designed by Rowntree's Jelly and to be honest, although its reliable and frugal, it about as interesting to drive as an armchair (albeit slightly worse at cornering above 60 mph). If you want to experience a car with combined understeer and oversteer go for a 607!!

But then, a silver lining appeared over the cloud. My wife hit the car last week (minor scrape to the door of the 607). Her friends assured her that I wouldn't be annoyed "it would have been different if it was his Alfa". Cue the 159 ad on TV, my wife fell in love with it and agreed we could dump the 607. Hurray !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Straight down to the alfa dealer (in belfast) and they are offering the 159 2.4 JTDM Lusso for 24.5K in flat black with red leather and 17" rims. Bizzarrely, the dealer said that the "flat black was a much softer paint than the metallic". I suspect absolute tosh being talked by the dealer, but would welcome an informed opinion. Checked out smartalfa and they offer the same for 22.2K. However, did my research and decided as a result of the forum here, not to touch them with a bargepole.

So after the very long preamble, can you pick up the same spec of 159 in the UK (rather than NI) for a more competitive price? Also, is it possible to buy a right hand drive 159 in italy, collect it, drive it home and import it yourself?

Any help grately appreciated!

the 159 isn't on sale in the uk yet, 25th of this month i believe.
As far as importing goes there should be no reason why you can't.
