No expert no the 159 air con but in general I know a thing or two. A noisy compressor is nearly always going to be down to main bearing and/or clutch assembly for sure. Anything else doesn't make much sense to do once you have a noisy pump in my opinion. But on the other hand, if it ain't broke...? My 164 has had a very noisy compressor since I got it 7 years ago and it's still running after 20 years of service!
Perhaps it's thanks to following three handy tips to prolonging the life of your AC. Never switch off the car with the AC engaged, never switch off the car with the AC engaged, never switch off the car with the AC engaged! Not saying that this has been the cause in your case as sometimes they do just fail.
