"Too bad that weighed 400 pounds more than expected"
"The 159 was a mistake"
That must be two of the most stupendous remarks in automotive history............
Do you really think Alfa didn't expect the weight of the 159 when they developed it ? (if Alfa didn't, they should stop building cars).
Do really think, a car the size of the 159, with those levels of comfort, refinement and safety, which make the 156 look silly by the way (and I know because I owned a 147 and drove a 156), not build with expensive materials like magnesium, carbon fibre or aluminium could be 400 pounds lighter than the 159 is ??
Compare the weight of the equivalent BMW 3 series (F30 comes close in size), the latest Audi A4, etc. and you will see that there on par, or, that the 159 is even lighter........
And by the way; in a time where the 150.000 Euro costing BMW M5 weighs two tons and you get you're engine sound through the speakers I don't think that a 1500 kg weighing 159 is that much of a deal.
And I never heard the CEO of BMW stating that the F10 M5 was a mistake.........
(although I think he should)
