"Mclennans spend a long time on your car on separate occasions and I believe advised you that you may have a faulty inlet manifold (which it is the usual culprit when there is power loss and black smoke)or even timing issue."
Please read earlier post regarding new parts, which was also explained to the specialist.
"By your admission on the start of this thread, your car is 30 bhp down now(that it is back to standard) from normal and as I was told it had about normal bhp after the remap at a rolling road of your choise,so even with an underlying issue you still had a 30 bhp gain with the remap, not ideal but a good gain and after all a remap is not a magic cure for all engine running issues."
I was not aware of a problem before the remap as the decision process was to do with longevity and performance. As an engineer I am well aware that there is nothing magic about a remap, and it is this sort of advise that I find unhelpful!
I am simply asking other members if they had any similar experiences that could highlight a quick and easy fix in order to get the car performing properly so that I can start enjoying it again.
