Spider rattle - fixed!
We had a rattle (well it sounded like a rattle) from the passenger side door (?) on the Spider. A few weeks ago I dismantled the door and found nothing which could have caused the problem. Last night we went out in the car, wife drove whilst I sat in the co pilots seat and I could hear the noise was coming from the roof, not the door (isnt it annoying when that happens?!). Using a screwdriver as a stethoscope in an attempt to locate the rattle, it became apparent it was not a rattle (no tap tap transmitted via the screwdriver) but a kind of high pitched creek. Back home with the hood half open I dribbled a small amount of WD40 into the hinge joints of the hood, accessible pulling back the material.
A short test drive showed the fix was successful! I suspect one of the joints must have been flexing enough to generate the creek/tick/sounds like a rattle.
Someone said to me, "so whats so special about an Alfa Romeo then?" I told him, "If you have to ask, you wont understand".
Driving Brera S 2.2, wife drives 939 Spider 2.2 and there is a 1972 Spider 2000 S2 in the garage for fun days.
