Interesting - been recently reading about similar symptoms. This is what my car does but has done for 20k miles without getting much worse. When changing the oil, it was clean with no swarf.
So, the big question is, what do you do? Do you leave it or can the 5th/6th gearbox bearing issues be sorted with the gearbox in-situ? Ie, accessible by removing the end of the gearbox casing or does it still need the whole box to come out.
Of course, the frustrating part is, it would be silly not to change the clutch and flywheel but the clutch is in fine condition - no slip, no judder and isn't heavy. This would also make it a horrendously expensive job. A really hard decision and a problem that is playing on my mind. I can't keep turing the stereo up!
Also, if it goes 'bang' then we may as well chuck the car in the bin!
Rockin' all over the road!
