Many thanks for the info. I spoke to Angle Tuning in Ashington and they seemed a nice group of people.
I also asked Benfield Alfa in Newcastle if they did a re map. They don't. They mentioned it can bring problems with blown turbos and other engine components.
So still unsure what to do.
I love my 159 and don't want it affected. Bloody rear passenger door lock has frozen which is going to cost £300 to fix. Its a MOT failure so that investment will have to come before the Remap.
Fingers crossed the drivers side passenger door lock doesn't follow suit. Surely as its a safety issue and an MOT failure Alfa should do a recall and fix at their cost what seems to be either a bad batch of components and faulty bad design.
Sounds like the kind of bull**** dealers sometimes spout, pre-empting any warranty issues and their wriggling out of them
It's simple - every diesel car I have owned for the last 12 years has been mapped. I have heard the same kind of crap statement and have only ever had issues on 1 car - a BMW 330d with teh diesel injectors going (which is an issue anyway, regardless of mapping)
I've tried tuning boxes first, then having "proper" remaps. I've remapped/tunin boxed; BMW 330d, A3 2.0 TDi, A6 2.7 TDi, Signum 1.9 CDTi 150, Saab TTiD 180, and my 2.4 Ti
I drive 30-40k miles a year and to illustrate just one example, the Signum had a BSR remap and I did 140k miles in total in the car - the only issue being the standard EGR failure at 90k miles
If you have a remap, chances are the dingbats at the dealers won't even know! Tuning box is easier - just remove it!
