Brera - White smoke 2.4 JTDM - DPF Removed
First time Alfa owner here!
Having purchased my Alfa Brera 2.4JTDM only 3 weeks ago, and having failed its MOT for a badly worn track rod end and 2 rear broken springs, Im worried that the costs are only going to get worse!
Whilst waiting for the MOT to be carried out, I noticed the car was blowing out a whitish\blue smoke, even though the engine was up to temperature. I had noticed some smoke on cold start, but from what i read on the forums, this almost appeared to be normal on the Alfa Diesels. Anyway, on the drive home, the smoke has gotten worse, and it appears to be puffing constantly. The car was bought with the Alfatune Remap already carried, as well as all glow plugs changed and MAF and MAP sensors replaced, all within the last 12 months.
A friend saw the smoke, and instantly claimed that the turbo was at fault. Have noticed that the car appears to almost pause for a slight moment when accelerating between 1800 and 2000rpm.
Any ideas? I contacted the previous owner, and he claims that since having the DPF removed, the car always smoked, but surely the smoke would be a black sooty colour ie waste diesel fumes, not white smoke?
