USB port not reading USB stick?

My first post! And I bring a solution not a problem.

I bought my 2007 Brera 2 weeks ago. Love it. Except couldnt get the USB port to read the stick. Tried everything, only putting a few mp3s on it, resetting battery, formatting it, etc, etc.

The issue turned out the be the USB stick was formatted to FAT32, it needed to be just FAT. To do this stick the USB into a computer and right click on it, format, and change the 'File system' to FAT, not FAT32 or NTFS.

Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting, I think a few people have torn their hair out over that one!

Thanks Dan, I have the exact same issue. Couldn't get any clarity from the owners manual and thought it was either file system related or that whatever plugs in to the USB port needed to be a multimedia player and not just a dumb storage device.

I'm doing a 3.5 hour trip tomorrow, didn't look forward to it without my favourate tunes in the glovebox Formatting my stick now, will test in the morning.

Thanks for the tip, going to save me some trial and error.

Are USB standard on early 159 as I can't see one in my glovebox of 2006 1.9JTDM?

The USB is part of blue&me, only became standard later on am afraid.
I have read some success with unplugging the battery for half an hour, if you have the tools take the stereo out and check the b&m connections too.
