Hi All, whats the general recommendation for servicing a 09 3.2 v6 brera with? Every year regardless of miles or every 12k or when the book says, which is every 24k.
I don't trust the alfa service book after snapping a cambelt on my old 147 way before it was "due". Equally I don't want to fork out if i don't have to!
Last serviced end of may 2012 and I've done 4k miles in that time current on just over 40k
Cheers for your help
My now departed 159 was a 1.9, I swapped it for a new Mercedes just before 3 years was up, but my mileage was similar to yours in its second year. I had the first service at about one year old, cost me just under £500, but when two years came round, local Alfa dealer Meridian Bournemouth told me I didn't need to have anything done because of the low mileage. I asked them to at least change the oil & filter, and they refused, yes that's right, they refused. They said they'd tested the oil and it wasn't degraded at all, "If we do an oil change, and anything goes wrong later, Alfa will disown the car if we've done an unnecessary oil change", it was their Service Manager who told me that, and I wish I'd got it in writing. The MB dealer phoned around to get the best offer for my 159, which came from Meridian, the people I'd bought it from in the first place. After collecting it, they got back to the MB dealer to tell him they were knocking £400 off the agreed price, "Because it doesn't have a full service history", can you believe that? That's sharp practice or worse, I wanted to take it up with Meridian myself, but the MB guy told me not to bother, he just told all his mates in the trade, and said he wouldn't be dealing with them again in a hurry, "Bunch of crooks" were his very words, so servicing for an Alfa seems to be whatever the dealer feels like doing at the time.
