159 2.4 Engine dropped all power with a whistle
I was pulling away from junction and just about to shift into 3rd at full load when all the power dropped of with a whistle or more like the sound a belt makes when you rip out of your trousers real quick. I instantly thought cam belt a went for the clutch and stop button but the engine had already powered down with no warnings or faults showing.
I checked the cam belt which seemed nice and taught with no obvious signs of damage or debris (although this is difficult to be sure of peeking through just a crack in the cover).
Having checked the belt I thought I'd risk a turn over; it fired up with one touch as expected; now it didn't sound like it was miss firing or smashing valves but it did sound peculiar and stopped on its own accord after idling for a few moments.
We have decided to have the belt n pump replaced but any advice any one has would be greatly appreciated.
