HEY that was you, I was thinking holy crap, don't let that happen to mine!...
Yep you know it's me because you can't see me through the smoke screen.....
This morning I had to go to Asda for some fuel and I had about 300yds of smoke (I don;t go over barton bridge to get to Asda) and then it stopped (this is about 1/2 mile from home, so no smoke as soon as it starts, but when it gets warm it smokes for a bit each morning, then stops)
The dash oil level display has dropped 1 bar since tuesday (so I'll top up again in the morning)
There is no smoke after the engine has got warm in the morning, but it still smells of burning oil (I got stopped by a guy in a carpark today telling me he thought I was burning oil as I drove past him to park)
I'm going to take off the bottom intercooler hose tomorrow to see if there is any oil in it. I'm hoping there is as that's a clear sign of turbo seal blow by.
I'm going to get the turbo rebuilt in the next week or so anyway, but I would really like it to be 'just that' rather than have that done and then find out there is a whole list of other stuff that needs doing as well!
I'm taking it to Anglesey this weekend anyway, if it blows up at least I'll know exactly whats broken instead of the random symptoms I've got now (the only consistant issue I have now is turbo whistle and burning oil at random rates) I will keep a close eye on the oil levels (and am taking a few litres spare in the boot, if the level drops and I don;t have enough I'll call the RAC out)
Anyway, if you see me again with a cloud of smoke behind me give me a beep and friendly wave, It'll be a nice change from the abuse I've been getting from white van drivers recently.
