Right, I'm quite good with spotting anything not running as perfect as it could be and just lately Ive thought the engine wasn't sounding as refined as it could. The last oil change i did was 8K & 10 months ago using Mobil super 3000, so should have plenty life left in it.
But, i had bought an oil change pump because of the PITA under-tray and was eager to try it
One of these (but different seller) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-Fluid-...item231f994ded
I then saw a Eurocarparts offer using code MONTHEND25 which gives you a free oil filter and 25% off the oil, giving 5L of oil and a filter for £17.99
(beware, this oil doesn't have ACEA C spec so may not be suitable if you still have a DPF)
Now i don't usually use the cheaper oil, but this meets all the specs the car now needs. And i am very glad i did the change. Even though the oil isnt very old and of good quality, the difference in engine refinement sound is massive, so much so I'm definitely changing the oil every 6 months.
The pump was superb, no more poxy under-tray removal and no rounding off the sump plug or new washers. Just pump into a bucket with liter marks on the side, and pour same amount of new oil back in. Simples
But on the oil offer from ECP, if you do regular changes this oil should be fine if you dont have a DPF and at the price makes regular changes do-able.
*But while looking what oil i put in last, i just went to Castrol's website to see a product recall on the POWER1 Racing 2T 2 stroke oil that i use to pre-mix my diesel
And yep, i have part of the dodgy batch that has water contamination
Now waiting for the technical team to call me to advise me what to do. Maybe new fuel filter and line flush in the near future....
