159 SW to Guilietta - Would you, wouldn't you?
I have been the proud owner of a 159 SW 1.9 jtdm Lusso for nearly 5 years. I still really enjoy the car, and, apart from the much documented 'standard issues' (power steering reservoir, EGR valve) have not had any issues - it is, by far, the most enjoyable car I have ever owned (I hope I don't regret saying that!). But here's the problem. It is rapidly approaching 70,000 miles and 6 years of age. It still looks stunning when cleaned (black). However, if you get really close you can see the bonnet, wheel arches etc. have those tiny little white spots, the wretched stone ships, or, more probably, salt chips after this dreadful winter. I've always known black and stone chips would never be a good combination and have worked very hard to keep them at bay but feel after 6 years I am fighting a losing battle.
So, what to do. For the last 2 years or so I have never seen the Guilietta as being a suitable replacement (too small, didn't really like the looks) but now find myself looking at it more and more. I've got the literature, sat in few at the Dealer's, but yet to drive one. It looks as if the 170 bhp Veloce would be my choice. Has anybody done a switch like this and what were your experiences?
The alternative, keep the 159 (but need to do something about the paintwork) and wait for the replacement to be released - the dealer's have no idea when this will be but seem to be hoping sometime in 2014.
Don't listen to what I say, listen to what I mean ..............
