Sorry for the long post but I´m starting to be clueless about my problem.
Some of you guys might have already read my post in (http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/alfa-...m-failure.html
), and trust me I was really searching through this forum and I have read everything about EGR and DPF, however, I'm getting restless.
Two weeks ago I have experienced strange issues. I was just normally driving my alfa when problems started all of a sudden. First it was a lack of power above 2000rpm and after that the "Check engine" warning light started flashing on my dash board and it went out of the rhythm, it was shaking with the whole car. When I opened the bonnet, the engine's sound was like running with 2 cylinders instead of 4. Also, the fuel indicator was jumping up and down and the light was flashing yellow looking like it's run down. I immediately turned it off and wanted to start again but all problems were persisting while there were also the ASR and Hill Holder failure on my screen. (As far as I know I don't have a hill holder in my car)
I left it in the auto repair center and technicians told me that they thought it might be EGR so they cleaned it. Without any luck, it was showing the same glitches. (BTW: I was told also told that the "hill holder" and other "wrong" failures were deleted from my ECU). After that they noticed that the injectors on the 2nd and 3rd cylinders are wrong so they changed them. Honestly, after that the car was running very very well (all power was back again
) I thought problem was solved.
2 weeks after I was back driving (around 130km/h), it started with same failures - power loss, shaking and pulling, check engine + asr warning messages, fuel light was yellow again, etc. I brought it back to my technician, he checked the injectors but they were good. He said everything is clean, filters are new, car should be in good mechanical condition. He discussed this with some other technicians and stopped by alfa center and he was told it might be an issue with ECU.
My questions are: Have you experienced this already? Is it normal that ECU may fail? Can it be caused by a defect in ECU? Is changing the ECU gonna solve these problems? Is it possible to reinstall or restart the software on ECU? Say it's reinstalled, is it possible that the car will stop responding, or just go plain 'dead'? Isn't it risky? Is changing it gonna remove my mileage? Is there a possibility to buy a new ECU? Or is it caused by DPF or EGR anyway?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions and advices.
Have a nice day
