Oh no not good! That were my words yesterday! I stupidly went wading through water that had flooded the road, huge amounts of snow melt water on the cairn o mount road, Aberdeenshire, and long story short the water was deeper than I had bargained for!!
The car cut out, wouldn't restart of course and then sat there while cursing! So water is now getting deeper around the car and very quickly starts ingressing in to the car! Too deep to open the doors as that would just let more water in! Clamber out of the drivers window and on to the road verge. After about an hour I get pulled out by a local! Thank you so much! Anyway phone the AA and they send out a recovery truck, didn't even bother with a van to try and get it running.
So up shot is I have a 159 sat in my drive way that is flood damaged! So you get an idea the water in the footwells was about three inches deep! The level of water around the car was above the lower grills but below the towing eye blank.
Will insurance write the car off, I'm thinking yes! How much damage to electrics under the carpets will there be!?
Big one is though will the car have cut out before any damage was done to the engine!?
The flood was fresh water snow melt, will that make a difference to the insurance?
I feel a ****, but what's done is done! Just trying to way up the options now!!
Any help would be great, oh and not expecting too much sympathy!
