Well, after all this time thinking the gear change problem had gone away its ghost crept back in!
What is it with Alfas/159s/me that seem to generate avalanche effects? Three months after the £1000 clutch saga (including slave cylinder replacement), same problem starts to reappear. This time Indy has diagnosed clutch master cylinder. Gorn, had it, another £250ish. This takes expenditure on this vehicle, bought in January to about £2200, roughly one third of its cost. Maybe I need a different thread to go on, if so someone please advise.
The garage gave me a 12 months warranty for what is beginning to seem like a worn-out heap (it previously needed a steering link and both wishbones replaced, by the supplier after much argument (it had failed the MoT so he had to pay up then in January). In adition it now needs a pair of handbrake cables fitted. Fractured sheath causing rusted through cable. Total repair cost increased by £400
Neither he nor the Warranty Company have paid up. I'm looking for some experience or judgements on warranties on used cars, period, as the say across the pond.
Every item on my car.if not excluded in the small print is disqualified on the grounds of 'wear and tear'. Is there any point at all in accepting any warranty on a used car? I'm going after my supplier under the Sale of Goods Act in the Small Claims Court. It's a bit of a risk but worth taking I think.
