Oil Switch/Sensor leaking
Just had my local garage do the oil filter/oil change that the dealer hadn't done when I went to pick up my car from them (the filter hadn't turned up). Don't worry I'm being reimbursed.
My garage noticed that just above the sump nut there is some form of switch or sensor, and its weeping oil. He rang an Alfa dealer for advice, who told him you have to take the subframe off to access the sump from the inside to redo that sensor. Which is an 8-10 hour job.
I've gone back to the dealer (not an Alfa dealer, a general FIAT dealer) who has asked for a quote from my garage before he authorises it, or asks me to bring it in to them. To be honest my garage didn't want to do it in case they buggered something else up in such a big job.
So, I just wondered whether anybody on here had experience of this problem and is it such a big job? I've used search but as I'm not exactly sure of the function and therefore the name of the bit that is leaking..so I've not turned up anything.
I will give my local Alfa garage a ring as well to see what they say, but I'm sure if it such a big job, the dealer will try and wriggle out of it.
