Information on Low Pressure Turbo, Engine check, Rough Idle start etc.
I've seen a few people run into the same issues as me, I want to share my findings instead of it being lost in other threads. I've just had the work done and report given, so it's fresh in my mind.
1. Loss of power with low spooling (Lazy) turbo, this usually points to MAF sensor. FiatEcuScan, should pick up a fault code. It needs replacing in most cases.. (Note that there will be no warning lights on your dashboard for this issue).
2. Engine Knocking with check engine light, diesel meter moving up and down. This points to the injector multiplug or loom being loose / dirty or broken. Check with FiatECUscan (there will be a cylinder number and fault code) or take the cover off and wiggle the loom / multiplug. You will see the engine knock / vibrate back and forth. Also don't be alarmed by the VDC / Hill start and other lights that flash.. If it's firing on four instead of five cylinders (As was the case for the 2.4, it will get you to a garage.)
3. Rough idle start in cold, clean the multiplug's and watch out for a pre-heat warning light on your dash board. Usual contenders for this are glow plugs and the relay, from reading several threads this is a fairly common issue.
4. DPF clogged due to above, DPF will only work in ideal conditions.. Mine was at 50% clog rate according to diagnostics. Once the above is resolved, take it for a long run and regen should complete.
