Sorry, i know wevev gone slightly off original topic but...
Surely if it was for cost cutting, leaving the glass uncovered using less than half of the headlining would have been cheaper!
Marc: what is it that you prefer in the older models regards to trim?
As the dials alone in the older cars put me right off, they look very dated!!
Cost cutting was to not install the blind and electronics, I guess they thought a permanently open blind was a bad thing. I know mine was always open, but I do remember a prominent member ,who has now vanished, saying he had to close his a lot. He lived in France and it got too hot with it open.
I actually think the version with a hole would cost more than without. It's one piece, so you will need to start with the same materials and use extra effort to make the hole?
Must admit I didn't notice a difference in dials? Which ones? I do think the dial surrounds (on speedo/revs) look more plastic on the MY08 and whilst it's more practical the silver strips around the car (and the steering wheel) are less impressive in silver plastic than aluminium.
Whilst I do like the dark grey centre console I don't see why that doesn't match the strips. Silver console and silver strips worked well in the older car.
MY08 also made lots of things extra, we've talked SV, but my car also lacks auto lights and auto wipers which were standard in my 06 car. And the lack of the 'Mono' button on the heater is a weird change (I do know how to get it now though)
I do concede the seats look better.
