Firstly i'm new to the forum, just registered today after suffering a chaos with my new car.
Anyhow before i begin, i am now (or was) the proud owner of a 2007 Black JTDm 1.9 16v Diesel Estate. Amazing car, previously owned a Mazda RX8 and changed to a larger vehicle due to family commitments. Not really taken back by the power of the Alfa as the RX8 was in a different league, although the overall quality and drive of the Alfa is much better.
Well, here it goes, purchased the lovely alfa 3 months ago, no problems whatsoever until today, driving down the road the car was quite hesitant, then when i'd pull upto the lights and accelerate off the car would pick up very little speed and eventually got going after running through the gears under harsh acceleration. Noticed a message "Have engine checked" appeared on the dash. Car obviously went into limp mode and i managed to get it to my local garage. The mechanic did a full diagnostics and discovered following error:
P0091 - Fuel Press. (high press. pump input regulat). Present Pressure too low
Mechanic could not really diagnose the issue and reset the error and adviced if it happens again to bring it right back. He did mention it could be the Fuel Pressure Sensor. Anyway, off i went and it happens again a mile down the road, anyway having lost hope that the local garage could do anything, i took the car into my local Alfa dealership, they had a look at it and discovered the same error as above.
However, after having now deleted the error they took it for test run and it never did anything again. No problems whatsoever. Chap at the dealership did mention it cannot be the Fuel Pressure Sensor as that would be an ongoing issue, as it doesn't just go away. He did however mention that it could be the EGR Valve and if he was to take a punt he would be put his money on the EGR Valve
Anyway, having researched threads on this forum and read a similar post by 'BuzBox' it does appear that the underlying issue maybe the EGR Valve. Does appear to be the same sort of issues as the low fuel pressure fault or maybe the same.
Was just wondering if anybody could shed any light on this?? it would really be appreciated as i honestly dont know which direction to go in at the moment. Dont really have shed loads of money to through at the car as things are already a bit tight at the moment, but hoping i could get some feedback and hopefully resolve the problem first time round.
