I've been doing a lot of driving recently and I've been getting is around 38MPG. Thats mixed driving 70% motorway.
I had access to a pit for an hour so decided to drill the DPF as per Fixitsans guide. I struggled to drop the DPF so removed it completely and drilled it to about 1cm six to seven times with 15mm diameter drill bit.
I then did a proper Italian tune up, which left me with a very large grin.
The next day I drove from the East of Buxton to Shrewsbury, all on A and small B roads, passing through alot of towns and villages negotiating many hills and queues, the Alfa returned 47MPG
. I had the car fully loaded complete with family, so I was a little shocked to see such a good return.
Then I drove to relatives toured round the area and headed back to London, the car still returned 46.8MPG. On the motorway I wasn't hanging about, far from it
, and I live in the south of London so you can imagine what the traffic was like.
The car regened and displayed no problems, no smoke and seemed to be much reduced in time. I'm very pleased, I may even take it off again and drill more holes or drill straight through. The next step is the DPF and EGR delete dongle.
