Are you glad you got the 2.2 S? How does it compare to the Tractor S?
The jury is still out a bit (especially because the new S has awful breaks that will be resolved with new disks and pads on Friday) and I did't want to comment before the TS was gone and it might sound like a blatant sales pitch and I might talk myself out of it!
The noise when you fire the S up makes me smile and it's the clicher really. I don't feel horribly down on power as it seems to get off the mark a little quicker (because it's lighter?) and after that it has enough. Plus from the little hard driving I've been able to attempt having a bit less weight and the sports suspension helps.
So actually the on engines hasn't been the issue, but there are negatives? This is partly the S and partly the newer Breras in general...
The seats look cooler, but they are much less comfortable.
The interior isn't quite as classy. Sure the aluminium was a little easy to abuse on the early cars, but it feels much nicer than the plastic inserts and steering wheel they replaced it with. Also the silver ring around the speedo and rev counter looks cheaper.
The lack of Sky View is simply stupid. (at least there was the option to have it on non S cars)
The black paint on the rear arches at 31k on the S is far worse than the grey pain at 86k on the TS and the grey definitely looks better dirty!
The S is also lacking auto lights, auto wipers and blue and me as well. I suppose the wipers is a plus. But why?
Suspension wise the S does feel like it could be thrown about nicely, but the ride is a little bit harsh. On the TS I just changed the springs, this gave the perfect compromise between comfort and handling.
I'm sure with a little paint work on the arches and callipers and getting the Sky View exposed will make me a lot happier. But a small part of me (and the wife) thinks I did the wrong thing!
