Should I take the plunge?
I've been to see a tidy 156 2.2 JTS this afternoon (06) with 55,000 on the clock. I'm replacing my trusty (01) 156 1.6 that my children are rapidly outgrowing. The garage is offering to service, and crucially replace the timing chain, and sort out another EMS code on the camshaft (I think). In all other respect the car looks pretty decent.
I have been following the threads on the timing chain stretching etc. I'm looking for advice on whether the above will sort this out or at least give me some comfort or if I should remain wary?
What I want to avoid is go from probably the most reliable car I have ever owned (and that includes VW, Audi) to something that may put me off Alfas. I have considered other engine sizes for petrol but wanted somthing with a bit more beans and I'm not really keen on diesels.
Any thoughts welcome.
