I'm after some clarification on the servicing schedule for my Alfa please as everything I have come across to date has been a bit confusing
I bought my 59 plate Alfa 4 months ago, knowing that it was due a service at some point and had been told by the dealer that the cam belt had also not been changed. I bought the car on 76K and it has now done 85K and is asking for a service. The dealer told me that the cambelt did not need doing until 84K so I have left it until now on the off chance....
I've been quoted by Alfa Romeo Sturgess Leicester £750 for a full service and cambelt change.
Also Intaservices in Leicester who are Alfa specialist have quoted me £640 for the same service and cam belt change. They also reckoned that the cam belt needed doing at 72K nd recommended doing the water pump at the same time.
I obviously fell over at this price as it seems expensive to me. Is this about right or am I being taken for a ride?
I've also read that the JTDM2 has the newer version of the water pump, so does not need to be replaced like it does on the 1.9 JTDM. Can anyone confirm this?
I intend to keep the car for a further 8 months as I do at least 20,000 miles a year the intention was to swap my car every year so that I did not rack up the mileage. I did not want to spend a fortune on the car on any extra work if it is not absolutely necessary.
So really I'm after some actual factual clarification on what I should do in terms of the service, how much you have paid for it and where? Do I need to change the water pump as well?
What do they do on the full service?
And when should the cam belt be changed?
Can you recommend anywhere in the midlands?
Also whats your view on servicing stamps in the book? The car would be 4 years old when I come to sell and I did not want that to de value the car, but not spend extra for it if I'm not planning on keeping the car long term?
Many thanks in advance for your help!!
PS - I really love the car!
