Help 159 factory fitted roof rails

I am looking for some advice relating to repainting the roof rails on my Stromboli Grey SW following the clear coat failing and looking completely rubbish. I am happy to say that the rest of the paintwork is holding up ok -2009 build.

Can someone confirm (or otherwise) my fears that to remove them, in order to do a decent job, they are only accessible after messing about with the roof lining? Certainly don't want to open that can of worms if it can be helped

Are there any special removal techniques or tricks out there that anyone would care to share??

Cheers all!

From memory, they are held on with Allen / Torx bolts. They should be easy to get off.

Any body shop / smart repairer will sort them or for ultimate luxury, go down the powder coda route

Thanks very much for the response. Couldn't see any fixings in my first look over so I am thinking of pulling the interior handles off the roof lining to see if there are access bolts through these openings.

Cheers,

I understand there's a strengthening frame within the roof

Now that we know how to remove the rails has anyone painted them? If so, how did you prepare them before painting?
