serously guys, its a rip off, isn't it? they kept car for 2 days now to do this, the only excuse they came up for the price they charging is the car was none starter since the battry was flat! they charging me £238 for diagnosies £79 for plugs £261 labour?! its a well known garage and alfa main dealer which i don't want to name! its my first alfa i heared they can be costly but i didn't expect anything like that since its full servise cost me £380 about 6 month ago!
Dealer is about 100 quid an hour, parts are at full list, they had to charge the battery.
Most independents are round about fifty quid
It still doesn't add up.
£79 for plugs fair enough
£261 labour for a 30min at max job?
£238 for diagnosies, to put charge in a battery?
Surly they can't charge full labour rate to charge a battery, the mechanic doesn't have to peddle a generator to to it, that's robbery. 15mins possibly to take the battery on and off if needed, a small charge for the equipment use but not full labour rate to sit and watch it charge.
If I'm quoted £238 for diagnosis, I would have walk at that point. But the dealer should be honest and said we didn't need to diagnose it as it was obvious as soon as we put a jump pack on it what the problem was, took 2 mins. Now he should only charge a nominal fee for that.
Name and shame them, disgusting behaviour makes me weep for man kind.
