Got a few snags with getting connected to the ecu. I've bought myself a elm327 lead and it came with driver software called easyobd. This works for looking at engine rpm speeds, but does nothing else without freezing.
Before getting the lead I downloaded the basic multiecuscan. Now with this I can use scan, it runs for a bit and completes. But if I press the connect button (bottom right) then it comes up with "can't connect, check lead or com port settings." Bit strange, but don't think there is a problem with the port as com1, (have played around with different com ports, and the "com2" message pops up straight away, when trying to connect!
Anyway...moving on I pressed the simulate button, and get the message "ICO code incorrect...press y to continue" so did that and , and then had wee play. By going in to 'adjustments' and the top option of oil counter (or something like that) I selected the tick box and then executed it. Now this seems to have made the "change oil" message on starting the car disappear!
So if your still with me....
.....what is easyobd? Why doesn't the multiecuscan not 'connect' and what is the simulation mode all about?
All seems not very straight forward??? To a beginner, I should add. Coming from vagcom
