Power Loss - 1.9 jtdm
This is going to be difficult to explain, but I'll give it a go. I've driven nearly 60,000 miles in my 159 SW 1.9 jtdm so know it pretty well. Of late (last couple of months) I've noticed 2 things. Firstly, the fuel consumption has dropped off - I always averaged between 48-49 mpg, and now I struggle to get 45 mpg. Same driving style, same tyres, same roads etc. More worryingly, there is a definite power loss in the lower gears, and low revs. For example, if I approach a roundabout, slowing down in anticipation of stopping, but then realise its ok to go, if I'm in 2nd or 3rd and just put my foot down to slowly accelerate around the roundabout, nothing happens, other than everybody else passes me. The foot goes further and further down until eventually the turbo or whatever decides to cut in, and were off, very fast, and very ungainly! Another example - my driveway is 90 degrees to the road, and very slightly uphill, so normally you drop into 2nd, and drive around. Simple. Only its not. Now if I drop into 2nd, and drive around it won't accelerate but stall due to lack of power. I have to practically stop, put it into 1st and give it some welly to get up the incline which is of all about 3ft!
Like I said, its difficult to explain but I know my car and I know when its not running right. Has anybody else experienced anything like this and give me a bit of a clue what I can say to my local (excellent) Alfa Indie before I take it to them?
