Oh, well done. So you havent run one yourself then? Please enlighten us what makes this box dull & slow witted?
The smooth, fast changes i get from mine led me to think its a pretty good box. That and the fact it keeps it in the right gears nearly all the time. Not to mention its proven reliability....
Compared to TCT or the latest 7 or 8 speed ZF units, the Toyota / Asin box is slow, old tech. In terms of speed, his old GT selespeed gave a much quicker change.
We did 3000 mile roads trip in a manual & Q tropic version of the same car. For the 3.2 at least, the gearing was all over the place. When you needed first or second (Stelvio Pass), it would beep, give you third then labour and at 35, when a manual car was in 6th & pulling happily, Leigh's would be in fourth.
Leigh's probably my best mate. We've done tons of trips together, with car to car radios, and he always has autos. In isolation, it's not bad. It's not good either. A software update did help a bit mind you.
His last car was a Scirocco R DSG. Brilliant box. His latest car is an M3 DCT. Even better.
