Gearbox Oil 159 3.2 Q4
I run an Alfa 159 3.2 Q4. I never replaced the geraboix oil (5 years, 43K mileage), Althoug gearbox run fine when the car has warmed up, now in winter it feels specially stiff shifting from 1st to 2nd gear during the first 10-15 mins after start -up.
My service workshop specifically recommends to stick to OEM's Tutela Car Matryx 75w85 (Of course, Selenia oil...).
Would you recommend Castrol Syntrans 75w90? I have read in this forum that it has worked fine with other 159's BUT as far as mine is a Q4, do not know whether such change would be worth. I think so since I am not going to replace differentials' oils, but only the oil of the gearbox.
Is there any problem switching from 75w85 to 75w90? Of course, it is API GL4 to protect yellow metals of syncros.
